Lady A’s Charles Kelley gave an update on his health following a medical emergency.
On Saturday (July 10), Lady A was forced to pull out of the Lakefront Music Fest in Prior Lake, Minnesota, due to Kelley having appendicitis. The Grammy-award winning country trio shared the unfortunate news just hours before their headlining performance was supposed to take place.
“After such a long wait, there isn’t much that could keep us from being with our fans. Unfortunately, Charles has appendicitis, so we’re sorry to say that we won’t be with you in Minnesota at Lakefront Music Fest tonight,” Lady A’s Hillary Scott & Dave Haywood said in a statement.
Later adding, “This morning Charles is in good hands and we’re continuing to pray for his recovery. The minute he is cleared by his doctors, we will be back on the road to see y’all. We appreciate your understanding.”
Now on Tuesday (July 13), Kelley shared an update with fans letting them know that after some much needed antibiotics, he is back and recovered from the illness.
“Little health update, I am healthy, I am back,” Kelley said in a video clip on Instagram. “Just wanted to say thank you to all the nurses and physicians up at InHealth in Minnesota. It was awesome, they actually made the call to just put me on these really heavy antibiotics, so I didn’t have to do surgery. So, I recovered like super quickly.”
Kelley continued, “Then got brought back down to Vanderbilt here [in Nashville] and thank you to the nurses and physicians there and they made the call that I’m good, good to go this weekend. I’m ready to rock. But thank you all, I appreciate it, I had so much love and prayers sent out.”
The singer then gushed over the group’s replacement at the festival, Jake Owen, who he said killed it at the event. He did assure fans, however, that he is returning to the stage this weekend during the trio’s mini-residency in Texas at Billy Bob’s.
“Definitely could’ve been worse, I was going to sleep it off before the show but I heard Jake Owen killed it last Saturday in Prior Lake. I hate missing shows but I can’t wait to see you all in Dallas at Billy Bob’s Friday and Saturday, Let’s do this thing. I’m going,” Kelley added.
Lady A will perform on July 16 and 17 at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX.
Additionally, the “Like A Lady” singers will be hitting the road later this month on their ‘What A Song Can Do Tour’ which kicks off July 29 in Uncasville, CT.
The 34-city trek will feature support from Carly Pearce, Niko Moon and Tenille Arts.
