Kenzie Wheeler’s cover of Morgan Wallen’s unreleased, fan-favorite song will blow you away!

On Thursday (Aug. 19), the runner-up of NBC’s The Voice and member of Team Kelly Clarkson shared a cover of Morgan Wallen’s “Thought You Should Know,” an unreleased track from Wallen that Wheeler said Wallen should “release this [song] already.”

“I thought you should know that all those prayers you thought you wasted on me / Must’ve finally made their way on through / I thought you should know I got me a new girl down in Jefferson City and she lets me fish whenever I want to / Yeah, I’m still proud of where I came from / Still you’re only damn son / Can you believe I’m on the radio? / Just thought you should know, Thought you should know, Thought you should know,” Wheeler sang in the clip.

Wallen shared the unreleased tune in late May via Instagram. Co-written by Wallen alongside Miranda Lambert & Nicolle Galyon, “Thought You Should Know” comes in the form of a phone call from Wallen to his mom, Lesli Wallen. The personal lyrics find the East Tennessee native and “Wasted On You” singer giving his mom an update on his life and all of the things he has gone through over the course of the last few years.

Additionally, Wheeler recently sat down for his first televised interview since being a Team Kelly finalist on The Voice, Wheeler performed a new original song during his appearance on WFLA called “Got Her Goodbye On,” which you can watch below.

“She’s got the top dropped down / her heart wide open / Ray Bans on and her long hair blowing / chasing something, somewhere, taking the long way / she’s got the rearview ripped off / singing every word to ‘Take It Easy’ / feelin’ strong, getting gone, livin’ that song / And girl’s Got Her Goodbye On,” Wheeler sings in the chorus of the new original song, which puts his traditional country vocals on full display.

Wheeler is set to perform at the Dallas Bull on August 27 as part of a concert series presented by Bartow Ford Company. Tickets for the show are available now HERE.

“I’m super excited to be playing the Dallas Bull,” Wheeler admitted. “It’s something I’ve always dreamed about playing, you know, right here in my hometown in the Tampa Bay area. It’s going to be a killer show.”
