Kelly Clarkson Held Back Tears While Garth Brooks Serenaded Her With His Hit “The Dance” — WATCH

After gushing about how much Garth Brooks biggest hit “The Dance” is helping her through her divorce, Kelly Clarkson had to hold back tears while he performed the track on her show.

During his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday (Dec. 14), Brooks serenaded Clarkson with a song that she says she recently found therapeutic for her during the dark times of her divorce.

After listening to her playlist and hearing “The Dance,” she says it made her realize that, that is how she was feeling.

“I kid you not, I was listening to my playlist and ‘The Dance’ came on and that’s the thing,” Clarkson explained. “I literally, it’s not like your song, like a rip-off, but I literally wrote this whole thing therapeutically for me, and it’s actually on my next album,” Clarkson told Brooks. “It’s the whole kind of come around…the little tag part is, ‘even though my heart is broken it was worth the dance anyway.’”

Watch the full video below and tune to mark 6:46 for the performance.

Brooks has been a huge inspiration through Clarkson’s career, so she dedicated an entire hour to the two of them singing and talking about his music.
