Katy Perry And Darius Rucker Dedicates “Only Love” Performance To Perry’s Dad At 2020 AMAs

A decade after her American Music Awards debut, Katy Perry returned to the stage to perform her single “Only Love” with country superstar Darius Rucker.

On Sunday (Nov. 22), Perry and Rucker spread a message of love and unity with their incredible stripped reimagined version of the song. The performance marked the live debut of the track. Perry dedicated the performance to her Father, Keith Hudson.

If I had one day left to live
And if the stars went out on me, the truth is
Yeah, there’s so much I’d say and do
If I had nothing to lose, nah, nothing to lose

“Only Love” is a track from Perry’s latest album, Smile, which was released earlier this year. The original song does not feature Rucker.

The 2020 American Music Awards also featured performances from Bad Bunny, Jhay Cortez, BTS, Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion and Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexha feat. Doja Cat, Bell Biv DeVoe, Jennifer Lopez with Maluma, The Weeknd, Kenny G, Machine Gun Kelly, Lewis Capaldi, Dan + Shay and Billie Eilish.

The awards was produced by dick clark productions. Amy Thurlow, Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco and Linda Gierahn are executive producers. Larry Klein is producer. The “2020 American Music Awards” is sponsored by Cheetos, T-Mobile and Xfinity.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, The AMAs aired on Wednesday, November 22 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET) on ABC.
