During a recent and rather lengthy interview with Forbes, rapper Kanye West discussed his entire creative process including Yeezy, his music and fashion empire, and his latest project, which is already well underway in bringing a low-cost housing solution to the market, and believe it or not, it was completely inspired by Star Wars!
West’s idea is based upon the housing structures seen on the planet of Tattooine in “Star Wars: A New Hope” where Anakin and his son Luke Skywalker spent their childhood. When speaking about the idea and how it fits in with his billion-dollar business empire, West hopped into his Lamborghini with journalist Zack O’Malley Greenberg and drove him to a remote area deep in the woods where West has a team already constructing prototypes of this very project. According to O’Malley Greenburg, they appear to be already in advanced stages.
West feels that this housing project would give low-income families the chance to afford modern housing without breaking the bank. In the article, O’Malley Greenburg writes, “There, with the hazy heft of something enormous and far away, stand a trio of structures that look like the skeletons of wooden spaceships. They’re the physical prototypes of his concept, each oblong and dozens of feet tall, and West leads me inside each one. He tells me they could be used as living spaces for the homeless, perhaps sunk into the ground with light filtering in through the top. We stand there in silence for several minutes considering the structures before walking back down to his lurking Lamborghini and zooming off into the night.”
The Star Wars sets from the planet Tattooine still stand in Tunisia and they are a must visit for urban explorers and Star Wars fans visiting the region. Check out the video below to have a look at the old set pieces:

What do you think about West’s plan? Is it something you think could work? We definitely can’t wait to at least get a look at what he has in mind!
