Nashville wasn’t the only one to ring in the New Year with a high note, Kalie Shorr ended 2019 on numerous critics’ end of year album and song lists as well as playing Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight alongside Keith Urban, Stevie Nicks, Jason Isbell and Ashley McBryde. It’s estimated that over 200,000 people turned out for the festivities in Downtown Nashville and the evening was featured on local television networks and national pop-ins on CNN and NBC. Most notably, Shorr’s debut album, Open Book, was the only country album that made The New York Times’ Jon Caramanica’s list of Best Albums of 2019. The album garnered similar attention from other notable outlets as well including Variety, The Guardian (UK), NPR, People, The Boot, Rolling Stone, Saving Country Music, Slate, No Depression, Whiskey Riff, Taste of Country and more.
