Powerhouse vocalist, Jennifer Lopez is currently embarking on her highly successful glitz and glam-filled ‘It’s My Party Tour,‘ celebrating not only decades of her pop music prowess but also being one of our era’s most iconic live entertainers, her remarkable 20-year entertainment career and her golden 50th birthday with a massive celebratory tour across the U.S. and Canada. The 32-date tour kicked off in Los Angeles, CA with several sold out shows at The Forum and her show tonight in Philadelphia was no different with a sold out crowd that was over the top excited to see her.
Lopez brought her scorching hot show to Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center for a dazzling evening that we will not soon forget as it will sparkle on in our heads for years to come. Celebrating her 50th birthday which is just days away, July 24th, which is hard to believe as Lopez is not looking a day over 25 and still has “it.”
Launching the evening with her latest single “Medicine” as she sparkled down from above on a crystalized chandelier that resembled a birthday cake made of wine glasses, Lopez was here to bring a pop-extravaganza for the sold out crowd to celebrate her birthday with a 2-hour long party in Philadelphia.
J.Lo brought along an impeccably stunning production which is she is known for in her live shows including the aforementioned chandelier, colorful lights, Co2, huge video screens giving visuals for each song, fireworks, pyro and of course her flawless costumes throughout the performance that perfectly fit the beautiful pop star. It wouldn’t be a J.Lo show however, without the eight flawless costume changes with a few extra changes of minimal attire (removing and adding pieces to another outfit) throughout her set. All included the glitz and glam that’s expected from her even her bedazzled silver hat appeared for “Jenny From The Block.” J.Lo brought stunning wardrobe designs with her from her diamond-encrusted bodysuit that she opened the show wearing which she jokingly called her ‘birthday suit’ to her vibrantly colored ensembles like her blue fringed bodysuit or her neon green one piece that she wore fabulously for the last few songs of her set but it didn’t stop there, as J.Lo looked absolutely amazing in her golden knee-high stilettos and fringed bodysuit during “All I Have.”
The show brought out hit after hit song including fan-favorites from throughout her impressive discography like “Ain’t You Mama,” “Jenny From The Block,” “On The Floor,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “I’m Real” “Booty,” “Limitless,” the aforementioned new single “Medicine” and of course ending the show with her encore dance-party celebration of “Let’s Get Loud,” but we couldn’t forget to mention her beautiful Selena tribute when she sang the 1994 Selena song “Si Una Vez.”
We really appreciated the amount of talent and efforts put into each and every songs choreography as the dance numbers were beyond impressive and a force to be reckoned with throughout the show that even included some extraordinary World of Dance dancers including the Swing Latino, The Lab, and Briar Nolet. The World of Dance dancers were also the opening acts for the evenings performance and were seriously mind blowing and incredible to witness live.
J.Lo even brought out her 11-year old daughter Emme Maribel Muñiz to perform the final notes of “Limitless” with her which made for a beautiful mother/daughter moment and duet that brought tears to our eyes as they were both wearing matching red outfits. Another memorable moment in the show that we thought was hilarious was when J.Lo invited a gentleman also celebrating his birthday this summer on stage for a strip tease from 2-dancers including J.Lo herself during “If You Had My Love” in which J.Lo told fans that she also enjoys giving presents on her birthday saying, “on my birthday, I also like to give presents too” giving one gentleman in the crowd a birthday he will probably never forget as he even said on stage “this is the best birthday ever!” as he got a seductive, playful lap dance from the dancers and J.Lo herself.
“I’m feeling very grateful right now, feeling so grateful to be able to share such a big moment in my life with all of you, thank you for coming out and celebrating my birthday with me! You guys are so amazing. I want to remember this night in Philly cause you guys are making this a summer that I’m never gonna forget, thank you so much I love you.” – J.Lo
Ending her phenomenal concert with “Let’s Get Loud” which ended with the crowd being showered in balloons to celebrate her birthday, one last time before she exited the stage to a roaring applause, even louder then the standing ovation that she was given after performing “Dance Again.” The live-energy performance kept the sold out crowds attention grasped to the stage throughout the entire 2-hour long, 20-song set that even had J.Lo’s mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez, and her soon-to-be husband, Alex Rodriguez, off their feet singing along in the audience. The ‘Its My Party’ Tour was everything and more that a J.Lo fan could’ve asked for from the non-stop party mixes of her anthemic tracks (new and classic) to the showstopping, breathtaking dance routines and glitz/glam from her wardrobe down to her set designs and sparkling confetti that showered the sold out crowd. But we cannot forget it also included lots of her Latin heritage and her hometown of the Bronx was highly present within the show as well, bringing a show that only Jenny From The Block could bring.
