After two postponements and more than two years that have passed since this tour was first announced, Janet Jackson finally found her way into Philadelphia. And fans were stoked and packed out the Wells Fargo Center in anticipation of Janet Jackson’s first show in Philadelphia in quite some time. The pop icon’s State of the World Tour touched down in Philly, rebranded as such after her Unbreakable World Tour was halted in 2015 for her surgery and then again in 2016 due to her pregnancy with first child, her son Eissa, who is now 10 months old. The new tour name however isn’t political, Jackson says in a video message that the new tour name is “about people, the world, relationships and just love.”
Six-time Grammy Award winning, Janet Jackson brought her State of The World Tour into Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center for a night of hit songs. Jackson rocked the nearly sold-out crowd with a mix of new material and older favorites. Jackson released her new album Unbreakable on October 2nd, 2015, and is the first album released under her independent label Rhythm Nation and is her only disc in nine years and her current world tour is only her second tour in more than a decade. Jackson started the hour-and-45-minute show with a video montage of current state of our world’s injustices which included racism, police brutality, starvation, domestic violence, drug abuse, pollution, etc.. Jackson looking beautiful, energized, and confident as she powered through an extraordinary blend of her new material and smash hits throughout the evening. Her hits included songs like “Nasty,” “Control,” “Miss You Much,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Escapade,” and “Love Will Never Do Without You,” but that is by no surprise that her set was heavy on hit after hit as Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
