Holly Brand delivered an emotional Jo Dee Messina cover on NBC’s The Voice on Monday evening (May 8).

Brand, who is a member of Team Kelly [Clarkson], chose to perform Messina’s “Bring On The Rain.”

The former Miss Mississippi, says she’s known the song “since high school” and connects with it on a personal level as it reminds her of her brother who is in the military.

During rehearsals, Brand had Clarkson feeling quite emotional.

“I started laughing, I was crying so much!” Clarkson shared as tears streamed down her face.

Included on Part 2 of The Voice Playoffs, Brand’s rendition of Messina’s “Bring On The Rain” was her best vocal performance yet.

Following her performance, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Chance The Rapper and Niall Horan praised her powerhouse pipes and show-stopping delivery.

Clarkson applauded Brand for showcasing a part of her that the show hasn’t yet seen.

“This is when it starts to get tough,” Clarkson admitted. “And you want to show a different side of your voice. You bring us to that place of struggling, and it’s painful, but you’re gonna overcome it. That’s a really cool thing that very few artists can do. Obviously, your voice is ridiculous. Great job, Holly.”

Blake Shelton Loved To See Brand Taking Risks

Shelton complemented Brand for taking risks and pointed out that this is the stage in the competition that things start to get tough.

“It’s a tough part of the competition, and I know Kelly is probably gonna cry,” Blake Shelton began. “You’re her favorite. And the person who went before you was her favorite. And now, it’s all starting to come crashing down. But you know what? I thought you did a killer job. You definitely took this song and took some risks in there. You changed the melody a little bit. Good job.”

Chance The Rapper gushed over her “amazing voice and great control.”

“”The first line that you sang made everybody sit up. I do feel bad for Kelly because I didn’t realize how stacked her team is. It’s gonna be a difficult decision,” Chance later added.

Niall Horan appreciated Brand for taking a chance to showcase a more emotional side of her vocal artistry.

“We haven’t really seen that side of you,” Horan said, before adding, “It was so nice to see that side of you. We haven’t really seen anything like that from you. Holly, you know how much of a fan I am of Holly. So I’d be going with Holly for sure.

Brand Is A Standout Contestant On The Voice

Holly Brand auditioned with Faith Hill’s “Mississippi Girl” and had the coaches in the palm of her hand with her powerful vocals and impressive range.

Clarkson turned her chair within the first 30 seconds of Brand’s performance, and Niall Horan and Chance The Rapper were quick to follow. Surprisingly, Blake Shelton was the only coach who did not turn his chair.

Brand ultimately joined Team Kelly after Clarkson praised, “She took it up! Here’s the thing, I love Maren, but I heard a mix of Faith Hill and like Carrie Underwood. Oh my God! We don’t have that really, that kind of voice right now in country music and I’m such a fan. I grew up on it. I definitely know a hell of a lot more than these two. Well, since Blake’s deaf, you can win with me. I love your voice so much.”

Throughout the competition, Holly Brand has performed songs such as “Lady Like” by Ingrid Andress and “Blue Moon of Kentucky” by Patsy Cline.

Brand will move on to the Live Semi Finals, which will air on Monday, May 15 on NBC. She’s set to compete against D. Smooth (Team Kelly), Sorelle (Team Chance), Ray Uriel (Team Chance), NOIVAS (Team Blake), Gina Miles (Team Niall), Ryley Tate Wilson (Team Niall), Grace West (Team Blake).
