New Haven-based alternative songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, HEELE, recently released a gritty new single (“Still Intact”) that was inspired by a long-lost home video of his early childhood.
“Lyrically, I’ve tried to reconcile the emotions that it conjured up within me while watching it for the first time,” he shared.
In this heavy electric guitar-driven track, HEELE goes back in time to illuminate the present with lyrics like, “Just yesterday we listened to that sacred song / Just yesterday we learned that we could do no wrong,” and “If I’d only known that these would be the better days / Well, we could’ve found some peace.”
Throughout the song it feels like he’s expressing the feeling of taking a moment in life for granted and wishing for the chance to do it over with a different mindset, which is something we feel a lot of people can relate to.
We sure can.

As an artist, HEELE was never afraid to explore dark and honest themes with his music. His previous single, “A New Friend,” was a track that explored anxiety and feelings of exclusion. That track along with “Still Intact” will eventually be on his second EP in late this year.
We look forward to hearing more of HEELE’s story on the EP.
Till then, you can listen to “Still Intact” below.
