Harry Styles’ latest single has already broken two global records on Apple Music since its release.
The One Direction member and chart-topping hitmaker shared his ’80s synth pop-inspired single, “As It Was,” on Friday, April 1.
Since the track’s debut, it has quickly broken two global records on Apple Music. “As It Was” received the most first day worldwide stream of any Spatial Audio release on Apple Music since the immersive audio experience launched on the platform in June of 2021.
The track also broke the record for the highest streaming first-day release of 2022.

Co-written by Styles alongside his longtime collaborators Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson, the new single comes just days after the GRAMMY-award winning superstar revealed plans for his third studio album.
“As It Was” is the lead single from Styles’ forthcoming third studio album, Harry’s House, which will feature 13-tracks and will be released on May 20, 2022. The song marks his first new material in nearly three years.
Styles first shared the news of his new album on social media, when she shared a photo of the project’s art work, which features him standing on the ceiling of an upside-down room.
“Harry’s House. May 20th,” Styles captioned the artwork.
Styles also recently shared the music video for his new song.
Directed by Ukrainian Tanu Muino and filmed in London, the clip begins as Styles, wearing a scarf and bright red trench coat, welcomes fans into his house after his young goddaughter Ruby Winston is heard saying, “come on Harry, we want to say Goodnight to you.” He then strips out of the trench coat and into a sequinned one-piece red jumpsuit. As the clip continues, Styles is seen showing off his dance moves alongside a young lady in blue.
“Shooting [Harry Styles] was bittersweet, as it was one of the happiest days of my life, but on the second day of the shoot, my country Ukraine was invaded, so you can imagine the insane emotions we had while shooting,” Muino shared in a statement. “Me and my team from Ukraine poured so much love into this video, and you can see it onscreen.”

Later this year, Styles will return to the road to embark on the European leg of Love On Tour, which launches on June 11 in Glasgow with Mitski and continues through December 2022.
