HARDY is engaged!
The country singer/songwriter asked his longtime girlfriend Caleigh Ryan to marry him on Sunday evening (Aug. 22).
The “One Beer” singer took to Instagram to share the exciting news with a photo of himself down on one knee popping the question to his girlfriend. He captioned the photo “i’m not her boyfriend anymore,” quoting lyrics from his fan-favorite track, “Boyfriend,” inspired by his now fiancée from his debut album, A Rock.
Caleigh also shared the news of their engagement with a photo beneath the beautifully lit marquee at Lyric Theater in Oxford, Mississippi, which she captioned, “WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!!!” alongside an emoji of a ring.
“I love you :),” Caleigh’s soon-to-be husband commented on her post.
Country superstars and longtime friends of HARDY’s shared their congratulatory messages in the comments of his Instagram post announcing he and his soon-to-be wife’s engagement, including Morgan Wallen, ERNEST, Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers, Callista Clark, BRELAND and more.
“Ole boy went to Jared. Congrats to y’all,” Wallen commented, referencing their “He Went To Jared” duet together. “Love you both.”
“Beautiful moment. Congratulations to you both,” BRELAND said, while ERNEST commented several heart emojis.
“Congrats brotha,” Smyers added.
Additionally, Caleigh inspired his fan-favorite tune “Boyfriend,” which the Mississippi native got the idea for while on vacation with Caleigh in Florida.
“We were in the pool, picking at each other about something — we’re always picking at each other — and I said something like, ‘Fine, I don’t want to be your boyfriend anymore,’” HARDY previously explained of the track to PEOPLE. “Then she said something along the lines of, ‘It better be because you want to be my husband’ with a wink. I looked at her, and instead of turning that into a really sweet moment, I said, ‘This is a great song!’”
After he completed the song, he told the outlet that he played it for his girlfriend, who said she “loved it.”
“We’ve been together for over two years, so now she’s my biggest critic,” he previously said. “She’s not going to hold back, and she’s going to tell me if she loves it. But as always, she thought we nailed it.”
HARDY and Caleigh have been together for nearly 4-years.
