Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are coming back to Philadelphia this spring for the first time in almost two decades. The country music stars announced Wednesday that they’ll perform at the Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25, with Yearwood, Brooks’ wife, opening the show.
The concert is Brooks’ first in Philadelphia since 2001, when the “Friends in Low Places” singer performed at that year’s Fourth of July concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Brooks and Yearwood have not played Philadelphia together as part of an ongoing tour since 1998, when they performed a series of dates the First Union Center. Brooks’ and Yearwood’s six-show run back in ’98 sold out all 120,000 tickets in three and a half hours, according to the Morning Call, which called the sales “Philadelphia arena history.” At the time, only Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen had done the same, selling out the Spectrum in the ’80s in similar time periods, the Morning Call noted.
Tickets for the March 25 performance will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at WellsFargoCenterPhilly.com/Garth or by phone at 844-442-7842. Tickets, which run $74.98 with fees, will not be available at the Wells Fargo Center box office on Feb. 10.
