After opening up the CMA Awards with a moment of silence and tribute to the victims of the Thousand Oaks shooting, paying respects to the 12 victims who lost their lives to such a tragedy. Garth Brooks took control of the CMA Awards stage as he acoustically performed his new song “Stronger Than Me,” written and dedicated for his beautiful wife, Trisha Yearwood, who was watching his performance from the front row as Brooks serenaded Yearwood as the spotlight illuminated her.
Tear dancing down Brooks face as he finished out the song singing “If I had a choice, I’d pray that God takes me first, ’cause you’re stronger than me.” Receiving a standing ovation from the star-studded audience, as Brooks sheds a tear and so does his wife Yearwood ending his performance.
