Former American Idol ‘Garbage Man’ Sensation, Douglas Kiker has announced that he is preparing to put together an album composed of cover songs and some originals.
Kiker’s YouTube has begun to pull in thousands of views and subscribers with his Chris Stapleton cover of “Tennessee Whiskey,” which recently surpassed over 350k viewers. Kiker was a Garbage man just a few short months ago, but has been placed into the spotlight after his viral American Idol audition tape reached over 200 million viewers within just a few days. He said that he would never have gone up to audition, had it not been for his 2-year-old daughter.
He made the announcement of wanting to release an album after his following begun to rapidly grow since his Idol audition, with fans eager to hear professionally recorded music from Kiker as they continue to ask via social media platforms.
“We want to release and album, but I can’t do it without your help. It takes something to make something,” Kiker said.
With the help of his team, Kiker has put together a platform via Indiegogo where fans and supporters can purchase merchandise including t-shirts, hats, one-on-one performances, and even full-concerts with all of the proceeds going towards funding of the album.
“This is gonna be a fun journey guys! I hope you can join me along the ride! I love y’all!” said Kiker.

Kiker has also recently welcomed a beautiful new baby girl into his family on Cinco De Mayo (May 5), her name is Kalinah Ann Kiker. He captioned a recent Instagram welcoming his newest addition, “Meet the newest addition to our family y’all! I am so blessed to have such a beautiful daughter. Meet Kalinah Ann Kiker guys.”
Kiker will be joining a star-studded lineup on the Finale of American Idol on Sunday, May 17 at 8pm EST. Make sure you tune in!
