Let’s go, girls! Shania Twain is set to release new music this Friday, September 23, announcing her new song “Waking Up Dreaming” in a TikTok post.
In true 80s fashion, Twain dons a bleach blonde wig, large sunglasses, and a glittery multicolor top in the video and appears to be driving in a sports car past a group of adoring fans, waving posters for the superstar. She captioned the post:
“Every time I get to announce something like this I get such a rush of adrenaline and nerves – it never gets old… I am super excited to share with you that my new song ‘Waking Up Dreaming’ is coming out this Friday!! I’ve spent the last couple years working away on new music… on my documentary… on the Vegas residency and it’s been such a creatively fulfilling time for me, I can’t wait for this next chapter and Waking Up Dreaming is just the start.”

In a second TikTok post, Twain revealed a clip of “Waking Up Dreaming,” with concert footage from the early years of her career. The video starts with a shot of a young Twain strumming an acoustic guitar while the lyrics “no we won’t stop at the ceiling so let’s keep Waking Up Dreaming” flash on the screen, before showing Twain on various enormous stages throughout her career.
She captioned the montage, “Smashing down obstacles and Waking Up Dreaming! #newmusic #letsgogirl”

Twain revealed the single artwork on Instagram, featuring the singer topless, wearing a cream-colored cowgirl hat, white skirt and knee-high white stiletto boots with streaks of pink and purple.
According to ELLE, the “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer is planning to release a new album in 2023.
Twain just wrapped up her Las Vegas residency, “Let’s Go!” at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, which began in December 2019. In an Instagram post, she shared a photo with her team on stage with the caption:
“Ending a tour or a residency is always so heartbreaking. The journey you go on with your team is always unique and bonding and the access you have to your beautiful fans is so special and exciting – so it’s very hard to say goodbye. 🥰 It was worse in the 90’s when I didn’t have social media to at least be able to say to those paying attention here – thank you to all the people who make the show possible, those on stage with me kicking butt and those behind the scenes also kicking butt – thank you to my fans, thank you for choosing to spend your time with me, thank you for the support, thank you for your uplifting energy and the love in the room. 🙏 Twain Town is a special place where we all choose to love one another and accept one another – we come together to PARTY – and I will miss you all 🥹 #LetsGoVegas ❤️”
Twain was also honored with the ACM Poet’s Award in August, which recognized her songwriting contributions to country music.
