Faith Hill made a rare media appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in support of her role as Margaret Dutton in 1883 on Tuesday evening (Feb. 1).

During the sit-down interview, Hill discussed her role in the popular Yellowstone prequel and shared her gratitude for show as it’s been a welcome distraction after her three daughters, Gracie, Maggie and Audrey, moved out of the house.

“Well, we’ve been married for 25 years, we have three grown daughters, all in their twenties. We are empty nesters now… it’s heartbreaking and difficult. Thank God for this project,” Hill gushed.

When asked how she and her superstar husband, Tim McGraw, separate their home life from their work life, Hill shared their secret.

“Here’s what we decided. We’re together all the time. Literally, all the time,” she confessed. “And we decided that we would never work lines together. We would never…”

The “This Kiss” singer went on to explain how she wants their scenes to be spontaneous and left to be created in the moment on set when the cameras begin rolling.

”When the time comes for it to be shot, Tim is James [and] I am Margaret, and that’s who we are when the cameras roll,” she said. “That’s who we are, and I don’t wanna give that up to him before then. I may have a surprise in my pocket or something… or my bra…”

“You never slip into James and Margaret when you’re at home for just a minute?” Colbert asked, to which Hill replied, “he does,” while laughing hysterically.

“It’s late night, it’s alright,” Colbert assured her. “I’ll ask him tomorrow.”

“Oh shoot,” Hill quipped.
