Eric Church honored the late Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave frontman), by covering Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” at his show (May 19th) in Washington, D.C. at Verizon Center on his Holdin’ My Own Tour. Before his performance, Church had mentioned Chris Cornell, who unexpectedly died from an apparent suicide after a concert just two days prior this this live cover (May 17th). Eric Church explained that Johnny Cash has done a version of Cornell’s “Rusty Cage” in 1996, and stated that his cover would be mirroring that of Cash’s take on the track.
