Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper & More Team Up For New Song To Be Featured In ’80 For Brady’ Film

Musical icons Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry joined forces, creating an all-star cast for their new single, “Gonna Be You.” The upcoming release will be featured on the soundtrack for the Paramount Pictures film 80 FOR BRADY, which hits theaters on February 3.

Penned by honorary Oscar, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, the song is set to drop on January 20th via R.A.F/BMG. The storyline of 80 FOR BRADY was sparked by the true story of four best friends who vow to live life to the fullest as they embark on an adventurous trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI in hopes to watch their hero Tom Brady play.

The lighthearted film stars Academy Award nominee Lily Tomlin, Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, Academy Award winner Rita Moreno and Academy Award winner Sally Field. Seven-time Super Bowl Champion and producer Tom Brady will also make an appearance.

“When I wrote ‘Gonna Be You’ for 80 FOR BRADY, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship,” shared Warren. “Since 80 was in the title I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!! Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”

Parton started the year off strong as she helped millions ring in the New Year with co-host Miley Cyrus for Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party on NBC. During the event, Parton took a break from her co-hosting duties to perform several times throughout the show with Cyrus. Together, the pair of superstars performed duets of Joan Jett And The Blackhearts’ “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” as well as Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene.”

“Gonna Be You” isn’t the only project the country legend has in the works. Parton announced that she is working with Dionne Warwick on a “very special” gospel duet. Warwick, 82, shared the exciting news during a discussion with Tamron Hall on the Tamron Hall Show on Wednesday (Jan. 4). Parton also released “Bets On Us,” a collaboration with Cheat Codes, on January 6.

Parton recently shared her Greatest Hits album, Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection.

Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection features 23 of her most successful songs spanning from 1971-2020, including the iconic tracks “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” and “I Will Always Love You,” among others. This marks the first time Parton has combined original recordings released for the Greatest Hits project.
