It was three up, three down this weekend for two-time GRAMMY-award winning superstars Dan + Shay as they kicked off their headlining arena tour with two sold-out shows in Nashville and another last night in Columbus. More than 40,000 tickets were sold across the three nights and as The Tennessean noted, “Even with their three monster hits: ‘Tequila,’ ‘10,000 Hours’ and ‘Speechless,’ it seemed like nearly every song was greeted like a single by the packed house.”

“Nashville, there is no combination of words that could properly justify the feelings you made us feel,” the duo professed on Instagram. “We have dreamed of this moment our entire lives, and just like that, you made it into a reality. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was so special to see the community come together in one room and heal through the power of music.”

On Friday afternoon, Dan + Shay announced a $100,000 donation to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in response to the devastating tornadoes that ripped through Nashville last week. AEG Presents, Sandbox Entertainment, CAA and Bridgestone Arena each also donated a monetary amount per ticket sold for both Nashville shows to the Foundation. That evening the fans of Music City offered their support in return, holding up thousands of “Nashville Strong” signs across the arena in a moment of unity before the duo performed their moving hit, “From The Ground Up.”

Dan + Shay The (Arena) Tour, presented by AEG Presents, will resume this Thursday, March 12 in Philadelphia, PA before a weekend down south. The 35+ date run follows 2019’s sold-out Dan + Shay The Tour and includes a sold-out show at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden. The duo’s tour continues a meteoric rise that began nearly two years ago with the launch of their 4x Platinum smash single “Tequila.” 2020 began with their second consecutive GRAMMY Award for Best County Duo/Group Performance, and they are currently among the most nominated artists for the Academy of Country Music Awards. The reigning Duo of the Year and repeat nominees have earned additional nods for Video of the Year, Music Event of the Year, and Song of the Year for their global hit single “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber. The duo’s Shay Mooney also earned a nomination as songwriter and Dan Smyers an additional two for both songwriter and producer.

“10,000 Hours” has now topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 21 consecutive weeks. The multi-week No.1, which holds the title of biggest first-week streaming total in country music history, helping Dan + Shay become the first country duo or group to ever debut a song inside the Billboard Hot 100 Top 5. The track has topped more than 850 million global streams. It rose to No. 9 on the Pop charts and is currently Top 5 at AC Radio. With more than 2.3 million track equivalents tallied in the U.S. to date, the RIAA Platinum-certified hit was the fastest country single of 2019 to reach one million track equivalents. Label and management family members presented Dan + Shay with a plaque celebrating the accomplishment at a post-show party on Saturday night (3/7) in Nashville with friends and industry guests. On top of its success stateside, “10,000 Hours” has exploded throughout the world. The song is certified Double Platinum in Canada and Australia and Gold in Brazil, Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Sweden. Its success drove the duo’s nomination for the 2020 CMA International Awards in the International Artist Achievement category.
