Dan + Shay brought a festive performance of their latest holiday track “Christmas Isn’t Christmas” during CMA Country Christmas. Paying tribute to their wives with the song.
“This is our first-time performing an original Christmas song, we wrote one this year called ‘Christmas Isn’t Christmas’ and it’s near and dear to our hearts, it’s a song that we wrote about our wives and you know the holidays are that much more special with family,” Dan Smyers said ahead of their performance. “Especially this year, we all need that lift, that holiday spirit, Christmas Isn’t Christmas if it’s not with you, so all these things could still be happening, we could still have this beautiful vibe, the Christmas trees, all the lights but if you’re not with the one you love then it all means nothing.”
“Christmas Isn’t Christmas” follows their first-ever holiday track “Take Me Home For Christmas,” which was released earlier this year.
The 11th annual holiday show was filmed this past September, without a live audience and is a production of the Country Music Association.
CMA Country Christmas also featured performances from Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett and Darius Rucker with Lindsey Stirling.
Hosted by one of country music’s most beloved couples, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins. The one-hour CMA Country Christmas special aired on Monday, November 30 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
