Today, critically acclaimed Norwegian indie-pop songstress Dagny shares her new single “Hit Your Heart” withSteve Aoki. Get it HERE via Republic Records.
On the track Dagny said: “After watching ‘Hit You Heart’ become a fan’s favorite in our live set, I sent a demo of it to Steve and he immediately wanted to be involved in the production. I wanted it to feel strong and powerful and capture that energy that came upon both us and our audience whilst playing it live – and that’s exactly what Steve added. I’ve been so excited to release this track and I hope it hits people’s heart-pun intended.”
On working with Dagny, Steve Aoki noted: “This collaboration came naturally I think to both of us. Her voice is so luscious and adaptable that I felt like I had a lot of musical freedom to produce something that would suit her vocals. She could fit into any genre, and that’s something I really admire about her.”
With production powerhouse Aoki at the helm, “Hit Your Heart” blurs the lines between pop, electronic, and dance music with an undeniable and unpredictable soundscape punctuated by horns and organic percussion. Meanwhile, the track showcases the gritty, soulful side of Dagny’s voice as she carries a hypnotic hook, “I’m coming back to you like a bullet.”
Aoki has skillfully executed vocal production, putting singer’s voices in the forefront and melodically building support below. Recently, Aoki teamed up with K-Pop megastars Monsta X to make “Play it Cool”, taking their noteworthy vocals to the next level. Similarly, Dagny’s voice comes to life on this track, making it clear that she is a force in the pop industry.
With a singular sound, style, and spirit, Dagny has been steadily ascending to the forefront of pop with singles “Used To You,” “Love You Like That,” “Backbeat” and more. Meanwhile, she guest starred on Seeb‘s “Drink About,” which racked up over 200 million cumulative worldwide streams and soared to the Top 5 on Spotify in Scandinavia. Not to mention Dagny has been nominated this year for Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2019 Spellemannprisen Awards (Norwegian Grammys) – this is the third year in a row Dagny has been nominated.
In between headlining shows worldwide, she supported LANY on tour and saw her in the spotlight as a VEVO dscvr “Ones to Watch” as her single “Wearing Nothing” surpassed over 16 million Spotify streams. Today she is sitting with over 2.6 million monthly listeners. Post a high-profile Beats 1 premiere by tastemaker Zane Lowe, “Backbeat” transformed into a veritable smash, racking up a staggering nearly 36.9 million Spotify streams as Apple, Spotify, and Tidal pegged her as an “Artist To Watch” and Interview Magazine, NME, Nylon, Forbes, and more lauded her. She teamed up with BØRNS for “Fool’s Good,” which hit nearly 10 million streams and highlighted her Ultraviolet EP [Republic Records].
