American singer-songwriter, Cory Michael, released a new single perfect for all summer lake getaways.
His new release, “Waist High Water” is a catchy and relatable song that features a similar country grove with relaxed vocals. You can download and stream the release via all digital platforms.
Opening the song, Michael sings about the drab energy many people experience as they clock into their 9-to-5 job. Quickly, he changes pace to point out the need for a weekday getaway. Throughout the track, Big Vinny joins Michael to create a vocal element that compliments the new release.
“Waist High Water came after another write that morning. I was writing with Chad Sellers. We wrote that morning and didn’t really get anything solid. By no fault of Chad, of course, Chad is an excellent writer. I was kind of in a funk I guess. I got home and was a bit frustrated by the lack of work success that day, so I pulled out the guitar and just started jamming,” explains Cory. “The rhythm felt groovy and made me want to get away. I finished the first draft in about an hour. It felt good but was missing something. We got ready to record the song and to finish it, I wrote the bridge. After writing the bridge, Bigg Vinny is the only guy we could see doing it. We called him up and he was gracious enough to jump on it. We had a blast cutting it with David Mescon and Joel Jorgenson, and we are looking forward to shooting the video.”
