Cole Swindell brought his third annual Down Home Tour presented by CMT on Tour to Philadelphia, PA on December 8th to the Sold Out Fillmore in Philadelphia. The Down Home Tour is Swindell’s intimate club tour that has quickly become a fan favorite tour since it started back in 2014, Each tour coincides with Cole Swindell’s Down Home Sessions EP’s. The Down Home Tour selling out nearly the entire tour including this sold out stop in Philadelphia’s most beautiful venue, The Fillmore with Special Guests and amazing singer/songwriters Cole Taylor and Travis Denning opening up the evening.
Cole Swindell had grasp the audience’s attention for his entire just over an hour-long set, which included his six hit singles (Chillin’ It, Hope You Get Lonely Tonight, Ain’t Worth The Whiskey, Let Me See Ya Girl, You Should Be Here, & Middle Of A Memory), and even songs from his latest release of You Should Be Here, and some new material from Down Home Sessions III, which just dropped on Oct. 28th, 2016. You Should Be Here, which was launched on the strength of the moving title track, debuted at Number Two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with more than 60,000 copies sold. The album’s second single is called “Middle of a Memory” which has been topping the charts since its single release. We must mention that Swindell’s performance has gotten impressively better and much more interactive as it appears Cole Swindell has grown a lot more confidence on stage as he continues to rapidly rise to the best of the best in Country Music. As Swindell takes over Country Radio and releases hit after hit, performing to sold out crowds all over the world, Cole Swindell is only proving that he has what it takes and the extraordinary abilities to take over the country music genre.
Highlights of Cole Swindell’s set include: Cole Swindell’s statement before singing his biggest hit “Chillin’ It,” “This is the song that started it all for me — [but I] never knew it would take me here.” Then Swindell’s energetic performance of “Middle Of A Memory” which quickly became Swindell’s sixth consecutive #1 single as he continues his streak of chart-topping hits, which began with his 2013 debut single, “Chillin’ It.” The song also happens to be his ninth overall #1 single as a songwriter. More notable moments include, Cole Taylor joining Cole Swindell on stage for an incredible performance of “Stay Downtown” which was co-written by Cole Taylor. Swindell sharing with the crowd that “These next few songs are songs I have co-written for a guy who I used to do merch for on the road, Mr. Luke Bryan.” before going into an acoustic performance which consisted of Luke Bryans “Rollercoaster,” as the crowd screamed the words back louder than they did at Luke Bryan’s concert in Philadelphia before going into Bryan’s “Beer In The Headlights” and ending the mini acoustic session with a cover of Thomas Rhett’s “Get Me Some Of That,” which was also co-written by Cole Swindell. Cole then brought out Travis Denning to sing some acoustic songs with him that Denning had co-written with other artists including Jason Aldean’s “All Out Of Beer” and Justin Moore’s “Pickup Lines.” Travis Denning also co-wrote Chase Rice’s “Everybody We Know Does” which he performed during his brief set earlier in the evening.
Cole Swindell ending his set with a very emotion filled tearful performance of “You Should Be Here” as the crowd roared the lyrics back to Swindell supporting him as he sings this heart wrenching song about his father who unexpectedly past away in 2013 just as Cole Swindell’s career started to take off. As difficult as it must be to sing that song on a nightly basis while on tour Cole Swindell puts on a flawless performance of the song, every night. I would definitley recommend checking out Cole Swindell if you have not yet done so as he is the next legendary artist and will be doing this for a long time to come. Swindell’s performances are emotion filled powerful energetic sets filled with hits you will all sing along to and know every word to even if you haven’t yet listen to it as it guaranteed that you have heard them before.
