Country superstar Clay Walker is rallying behind Kaleb Austin to try to get Garth Brooks’ attention on TikTok.
On Independence Day (July 4), the rising country star and “Sun Goes Down” singer’s wife Cheyenne shared a video clip of Austin singing a cover of Brooks’ “Thunder Rolls” with the caption “can we get Garth to notice him?” The caption prompted support from Walker, who commented and tagged Brooks in the comments on TikTok.
Upon seeing the comment, Austin freaked out as the “Sound Of The South” singer credits Brooks and Walker are some of his biggest country music influences. The influence is heard within his original music, and the TikTok star is also seen covering Brooks quite often throughout his social media.
“Garth Brooks hands down. He’s a living legend. I strive to be a great performer and connect with people like he does,” Austin previously shared in an interview with Music Mayhem. “I have listened to Garth since I can remember and have always felt like his music has a timeless quality. I strive to put the same feeling in each one of my songs to connect with as many people as possible.”
When asked what it felt like to have Walker, one of his inspirations, help him try to get the attention of Brooks, he said “It’s tough to describe how excited and grateful I feel. Clay Walker has also been a huge influence on my career. I grew up singing his songs all the time. We got the opportunity to talk with Clay a few months back and he is one of the most down to earth people I’ve ever met. He’s one of a kind and having an artist like him support my career is amazing to say the least.”
If Brooks replied to Austin, he admits that he would “probably let out some type of high pitched scream and pass out.” Although Brooks has not yet reached out to the singer or seen his video that he is aware of, he still has high hopes of him reaching out.
“In all seriousness, I’ve looked up to Garth all my life both as an artist and entertainer,” Austin added. “To have him take notice of my career would be an honor. So hopefully he does!”
