Chris Young revealed that Tim McGraw is his dream duet partner and that he’s going to “do something with him at some point” in a Jun. 3 interview with PEOPLE.

Young shared that he wants to collaborate with McGraw while promoting the deluxe edition of his Famous Friends album, telling the outlet that singing a duet with McGraw is a “very realistic” dream.

“I know [Tim McGraw] and I text him a lot, and I’ve asked him once before to be on a song and he couldn’t,” Young said. “It’s the only time that I’ve ever asked somebody and been like, ‘I want to ask you again.’ I’ve gotten to be friends with him over the years and I’m going to do something with him at some point,” he added.

In the meantime, Young has collaborated with a few other “famous friends” on the deluxe edition of his album of the same name, including, Old Dominion (“Everybody Needs A Song,”), Kane Brown (title track, “Famous Friends”), Lauren Alaina (“Town Ain’t Big Enough”), and Jimmie Allen (“Music Note”).

Young praised his collaborators, sharing that everyone was immediately “in” to be part of the album when he asked.

“I’ve been really lucky that everybody I’ve asked to be a part of the project has just immediately been like, ‘Yeah, we’re in,’” he explained.

Young also shared a story about how his Old Dominion duet “Everybody Needs A Song” came to be, saying it started as just a co-writing session between himself and the band’s guitarist Brad Tursi.

“I was like, ‘Hey, do you guys ever get asked to do stuff because you’re a band? Would y’all want to do something?,’” Young said. “And [Brad Tursi] was like, ‘Dude, I would love to collab on this. I think it’d be great. Let me ask the rest of the guys,’ and they were all down for it.”

Young released the deluxe edition of his album, Famous Friends on Jun. 3.

The singer took to Instagram to hype up the release, posting a video to his feed, and writing, “Famous Friends was such a fun album to make, but I thought we should keep the party going…so here’s the Deluxe Edition…with some help from some more Famous Friends. Link in bio to download or stream!,” he later added.

Besides releasing the deluxe version of his album, Young will be hitting the road this summer on tour, with appearances at a variety of festivals including Country Thunder Iowa, Boots in the Park, the Allen County Fair, and more. Young will kick off his summer appearances with his fan club party during this year’s CMA Fest on Jun. 9.
