Chris Young announced his new album!
On Wednesday, June 9, the country superstar revealed the exciting news that he is releasing his highly-anticipated new album, Famous Friends, on August 6.
“We’ve been teasing everybody for years,” Young revealed to PEOPLE. “I’m really, really excited to have this album out there for everybody and to be able to announce it.”
Following the success of Young and Kane Brown’s duet “Famous Friends,” the singer knew it was the perfect choice to name the album after the track.
“This song has really made a name for itself with how much people love it,” Young told the outlet of the track, he later added, “Going into the album launch right here in the heat of the summer with a song that’s becoming one of the songs of the summer, it made a lot of sense to call this Famous Friends.”
In addition to the Brown duet, the album will also include several of his previously released tracks, including “Raised on Country,” “Drowning” and “Town Ain’t Big Enough,” a song which features Lauren Alaina.
The eighth studio album will mark Young’s first new album since the release of his 2017 project, Losing Sleep.
Additionally, Young is set to perform “Famous Friends” at Wednesday (June 9) evening’s CMT Music Awards alongside Brown. He is also nominated at the awards show for Collaborative Video Of The Year category.
