Hunter Metts performed a classic chart-topping Coldplay during American Idol’s Coldplay/Mother’s Day round.
On Sunday, May 9, Metts performed a track from Coldplay’s album, A Head Full of Dreams, called “Everglow” and his rendition of the track sent chills running down our spines.
Ahead of the performance Coldplay frontman Chris Martin praised Metts’ talent and vocal abilities.
“He doesn’t need any mentoring,” Martin bragged. “Hunter is so talented, it makes me pull my own socks up. Like an aging male lion that can sense the threat of a new male lion coming through.”
“Heavenly stuff coming out of you,” Martin later added.

Following his performance, Idol judges including Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie praised Metts’ stunning performance.
“Hunter you don’t understand, I get so many texts about you,” Perry gushed. “But I just want you to know I like seeing you getting your baby confidence but just know that you are beloved by the world, and it’s beautiful seeing you sing and soar.”
“It’s just really amazing seeing you on this stage building a fanbase” Bryan said. “The thing you can always hang your hat on is the uniqueness in your voice, and this song really showcased that.”
“You’re a storyteller as well as having a unique voice,” Richie added. “The sky is the limit for your career.”
