Chris Cornell’s daughter Toni Cornell took part in the Music Lives livestream festival this past weekend, she performed Temple Of The Dog’s “Hunger Strike” with a bone-chilling rendition of the song. She opened the video saying, “Hi, I’m Toni Cornell, I am sitting in my dads studio during this crazy time, I am gonna sing one of my favorite songs for you guys. I love you daddy and I hope I do this some justice.”
“Sitting in my dad’s home studio during this crazy time makes me miss him even more. Music is the greatest healer and the most powerful way to bring people together especially during tragedy,” Toni Cornell captioned the performance on her Instagram. “If my dad were here, I know he would have been the first to donate his time and effort. Thank you for including me, I am honored to be part of this and to help spread love through music.”
“On behalf of the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation we are donating $50,000 to @MusiCares for its Covid relief efforts,” the caption for the video also read. “This is for you daddy and all your fans who have helped lift us up and who continue to keep the music alive. I love you daddy.”
The event was to raise money for MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund benefitting musicians in need of assistance during the novel coronavirus pandemic due to their inability to tour due to government gathering policies.
