Some of the most prolific contestants in American Idol history will return to the show for Hollywood Week.
The exciting news was announced via Instagram earlier this month.
“These INCREDIBLE Idol alums all return as guest mentors for #HollywoodWeek next Monday!! 🎤🌟,” American Idol shared on Instagram.
Idol alums Lauren Alaina, Jordin Sparks, Haley Reinhart, Ruben Studdard, David Cook, Lee Dewyze, as well as the reigning winner of Idol, Chayce Beckham, will return to the popular singing competition show as guest mentors for Hollywood week.
“I’m really excited to be back on @AmericanIdol next Monday (3/28) to talk through my experience with the season 20 contestants,” Beckham said. ”It was a wild ride for me and maybe I can offer a little bit of advice to the next potential winner.”
“Super excited to announce that I will be a guest mentor on @americanidol during #Hollywoodweek for the indie / folk genre!!!” Dewyze said.
“Tonight, I return to @americanidol as a mentor, but it seems like yesterday I walked in to an audition room hoping to get a golden ticket. What a ride it’s been! 🤍” Sparks posted.
“Hey everyone, I’m returning to @AmericanIdol as a guest mentor for #HollywoodWeek! I’ll be mentoring the rock genre!” Cook shared.
“I am FLIPPING OUT to return to @americanidol as a guest mentor for #HollywoodWeek! I’ll be mentoring the country genre!” Alaina wrote on social media.
According to an Idol press release, the first week of Hollywood will feature “fan favorites from auditions will take the stage for the Genre Challenge to sing their hearts out and impress judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie in hopes of making it through to the next round.”
Later in the season, Jimmie Allen and Bebe Rexha will join the show as celebrity mentors for the Top 24, replacing longstanding in-house mentor, Bobby Bones, who announced that after five years with Idol he would not be returning to the show for the 2022 season.
Hollywood Week on American Idol begins on Monday, March 28, at 8/7c on ABC.
