Carrie Underwood is returning to NBC’s Sunday Night Football for a new season, Underwood will be performing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” with rock icon Joan Jett. “I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open,” Underwood said in a press release. “What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”
“When Carrie brought us this idea, we immediately embraced it as a terrific way to evolve the performance, while also celebrating the song we used in our first 10 seasons of SNF,” added Fred Gaudelli, Executive Producer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. “We were excited when Joan agreed to join us, and we can’t wait to debut the finished product.”
The 2019 NBC Sunday Night Football show will debut this season on Sunday, September 8th as the Super Bowl Champions’ New England Patriots face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The will mark Jett and Underwood’s second collaborative efforts together, the first being at CMA Fest 2019 in Nashville, TN, where the two performed a series of Jett’s hits which aired on ABC in August and was recorded in June.
