Chris Young has issued a statement after being forced to cancel a number of shows on his UK tour.

The country hitmaker, who is currently sitting at the top of the country radio charts with “At The End Of A Bar” with Mitchell Tenpenny, took to social media on Wednesday morning to share the unfortunate news with fans.

“This week started off incredibly with my 13 #1 single for ‘At The End Of A Bar’ and plans to tour in the UK, but unfortunately COVID has hit my band and we are forced to cancel the shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, London and the Long Road Festival,” he wrote.

“I am excited to play all the new music from ‘Famous Friends’ for fans in the UK and we will update you soon on plans to reschedule the run of shows.”

Young and Tenpenny’s hit collaboration, “At The End Of A Bar” is sitting atop both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts this week.

“At The End Of A Bar” marks his 13th career No.1 single as an artist and his 11th No. 1 single as a songwriter and is the follow-up to his multi-platinum, multi-week No. 1, “Famous Friends” with Kane Brown. “At The End Of A Bar” is the second No. 1 for Tenpenny as an artist and his second No. 1 single as a songwriter.

Produced by DeStefano and Young and Co-written by Young, Tenpenny and Chris DeStefano, “At The End Of A Bar” was written in February 2021 when most of Music City was shut down due to the Nashville snowstorm.

“It’s a true testament to never skip a day of work because you never know what you might write,” Young shared adding, “it’s also a hell of a lot of fun to sing, and Mitchell Tenpenny and I had entirely too much fun stacking vocals on this, so we had to make it a duet.”

When he got the news of the No.1 single, Young took to social media to share his excitement.

“Thanks to ALL OF YOU, At The End Of A Bar is officially my 13th NUMBER 1!” Young wrote. “Pretty crazy to think that Gettin’ You Home was my first number 1 in 2009 and I can’t believe my career has grown so much since then! Thanks for writing and singing this one with me @m10penny! (And you too @chrisdestefano),” he wrote alongside a photo of himself and Tenpenny celebrating at the end of a bar.

He later shared an additional photo of him and Tenpenny’s celebrations at a Nashville bar.

“You missed it #attheendofabar,” he captioned the post.

“At The End Of A Bar” is featured on Young’s latest album, Famous Friends (Deluxe Edition). The project features six new tracks, including “Music Note’ with Jimmie Allen and “Everybody Needs A Song” with Old Dominion.

Young’s next scheduled tour date is September 23 at Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, CA.
