“Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address. The doctors say that in order for her to heal properly, they recommend she not perform for a couple of weeks,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, this overlaps our five tour dates in May, and we are very sorry to have to cancel our performance at @brandicarlilesmothershipwkd on May 14th and postpone our shows in Athens, Louisville, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh”

Raitt’s Team Shared An Apology

The statement from Raitt’s team shared an apology to fans for the “delay and inconvenience.”

“It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen,” they acknowledged.

“Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st.”

Recently Won Three GRAMMY Awards

The unfortunate news comes two months after Bonnie Raitt took home three trophies at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Raitt turned heads when she won Song Of The Year for her single, “Just Like That.” The song beat out tracks from artists such as Lizzo, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Beyoncé.

The California native was left nearly speechless when she took to the stage to accept the honor.

“Oh, my gosh. Oh, I’m so surprised. I don’t know what to say. This is just an unreal moment. Thank you for honoring me, to all the academy that surrounds me with so much support and appreciates the art of songwriting as I do,” she said. “I was so inspired for this song by the incredible story of the love and the grace and the generosity of someone that donates their beloved’s organs to help another person live, and the story was so simple and so beautiful for these times.”

She went on to give a shoutout to the great, late John Prine and other songwriters.

“And people have been responding to the song partly because of how much I love and we all love John Prine, and that was the inspiration for the music for this song and telling a story from the inside. … I don’t write a lot of songs, but I’m so proud that you appreciate this one and what this means for me and for the rest of the songwriters…I would not be up here tonight if it wasn’t for the art of the great, soul-digging, hard-working people that put these songs and ideas to music. So I thank my team for helping me get this record out. And thank you so much. I’m just totally humbled. I really appreciate it. Thank you.”
