Blueanimal Release Lyric Video for “Rock Bottom”

Orlando-based rock/alternative band, Blueanimal, announced that they will be releasing their third full-length album, Figment That Was Me.

According to the band, this is going to be one of their darkest albums, inspired by a lot of real world experience and a character’s struggles with depression and the topics surrounding that struggle. Their new lead single, “Rock Bottom,” shows just that, with its edgy 90’s signature sound that pays homage to heavy rock artists like Alice in Chains and tight rock n’ roll bands like The Heartbreakers.

With lyrics like, “Here I am / Slowly falling / Darkness calling me in,” and “Hurt me again / I fear not for / The pain it makes me stronger,” Luke Elms (lead vocalist, guitarist, songwriter) is singing about mental illness from one who has seen depression first hand.

“I wrote this album [Figment That Was Me] as a concept album telling the story of a person descending into and rising out of a battle with depression and the consequences it has on his relationships, self-image, and all facets of his life,” says Luke Elms. “Our world is in the midst of a pandemic of Covid-19.

“But, an epidemic that was present before Covid, and will unfortunately still be raging after, is the epidemic of mental health issues and the struggles of public perception, awareness, and stigma that comes along with it,” Luke shares. “My hope is this album can help take people on a journey through this character’s struggle that will allow those that have fortunately not experienced mental health issues to gain a better understanding and those that are currently struggling to not feel so alone.”

The lyric video for “Rock Bottom” is meant to bring life to anyone who is struggling with their mental health. The rocks in the video represent the bottom, but also the underlying determination to break through.
