Billie Eilish gave the debut performance of her latest single “My Future” at the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday (Aug. 19). The single was released on July 30 and was written at the beginning of quarantine and says “it’s a song that’s really really personal and special” to her.

The star made her political views very clear ahead of her performance as well as in the past in social media posts and this time she tells fans that President Trump is “destroying our country and everything we care about.”

“You don’t need me to tell you things are a mess, Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about,” Eilish said ahead of her debut performance of “My Future.”

Eilish continued to tell viewers that we need leaders who will solve the problems at hand like the novel coronavirus pandemic, racism, climate change and more.

“We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID, not deny them. Leaders who will fight against systemic racism and inequality and that starts by voting for someone who understands how much is at stake, someone who’s building a team that shares our values,” Eilish added. “It starts with voting against Donald Trump and for Joe Biden. Silence is not an option and we can’t not sit this one out. We all have to vote like our lives and the world depend on it because they do. The only way to be certain of the future is to make it ourselves, please register, please vote.”
