Avril Lavigne announced late last year (2016) that she planned to be releasing new material in 2017, However we have not heard about it since then.
“For this album, I have a new team behind me and I just signed to BMG. I’ve been working really hard on the new music, and it’s a reflection of my journey over the last few years,” Lavigne says in an Instagram post. “Without trying to make an album, I have made one.” Lavigne told Billboard in a recent interview that this new record touches on a lot of new topics that she hasn’t written about before. “I challenged myself as a songwriter and I wanted to write about topics I hadn’t hit on before,” Lavigne tells Billboard. “There’s the love topic, but a lot of these songs are about life. I’ve experienced a lot over the past few years, and some of the songs just came to me. Concepts and lyrics were flowing and I would have to grab my phone to sing into voice memo and write out my lyrics.”
Lavigne also mentions that she is “going back to my roots a little bit…” saying that she got her start at church and county fairs, and those “earlier influences are definitely coming out now.” More recent: Avril Lavigne has been focusing on her battle with Lyme disease. This will be the first album for the Lavigne since her self-titled record in 2013.
