Avril Lavigne released her highly-anticipated new single “Head Above Water,” in this song she recalls her battle with Lyme Disease. This single marks Lavigne’s first new single in 5 years, and is the first single off her forthcoming new album. Details for the new album have not yet been revealed but is expected to be prepping for the release of her sixth studio album, which is expected to be released via BMG. This will follow her 2013 release of her self titled album, Avril Lavigne.
Lavigne revealed her nearly year-long battle with Lyme disease in 2015, and to coincide with the release of “Head Above Water,” The Avril Lavigne Foundation has launched a charitable t-shirt campaign that will raise money to benefit individuals affected by Lyme Disease who can’t afford treatment otherwise.
