Then on Tuesday (Aug. 31), Smyers and Mooney shared a video clip on Instagram of an orchestra in the studio recording an instrumental that is potentially the soundtrack to a forthcoming duet from the duo and Underwood, which the superstar duo captioned with her name alongside an eye emoji.

“Just wait till y’all hear the vocals,” Smyers commented on the post teasing fans, alongside an heart-eyed smiley face emoji.

While no additional details of what’s coming were shared by either party, fans are freaking out on social media.

“An epic power ballad with soaring VOCALS from the two best singers in country music,” one fan on Twitter shared. “This is what we wanted!!”

Another said, “What a dream come true for me! I cannot wait to hear this!”

“Y’all are gonna have to pick me up off the floor if I hear James Shay Mooney and Carrie Marie Underwood go toe to toe on a song together,” another excited fan tweeted

“Please I’m alright shaking. This is gonna be the most epic collaboration of all time,” one fan commented on their teaser clip on Instagram.

The pair further teased fans replying to one fans comment, who wrote “IS A FRICKIN DAN AND SHAY x CARRIE UNDERWOOD DUET ABOUT TO HAPPEN?!??! OMG IM FREAKING OUT,” saying, “HMM IS IT?!”

Underwood then joined in on the fun of teasing fans by responding to Dan + Shay on Twitter with a winky face emoji.

Additionally, Underwood recently joined country superstar Jason Aldean for a duet called “If I Didn’t Love You.”

Underwood previously recorded several duets, including with Keith Urban (“The Fighter”), Brad Paisley (“Remind Me”), Vince Gill (“How Great Thou Art”), Randy Travis (“I Told You So”), Willie Nelson (“Always On My Mind”), Tony Bennett (“It Had To Be You”) and more recently NEEDTOBREATHE (“I Wanna Remember”) in addition to many others.

While Dan + Shay have duets with Justin Bieber (“10,000 Hours”) and Kelly Clarkson (“Keeping Score”).
