Hunter Metts’ debut album is complete and is currently being “finalized.”

In a recent interview with Everything Nash, the Season 19 Top 10 American Idol finalist and Tennessee native shared some updates including what his Idol experience was like, new music that is on the way and so much more.

Following his departure from Idol, Metts immediately embarked on creating music full-time and writing songs for his upcoming debut effort. The singer shared that he rented out a Tennessee cabin to record the project and now it is in its final stages of being mastered.

“During the show, me and some of my best friends who are also super musically talented, we booked a cabin in Tennessee,” Metts recalled to the outlet. “I write songs. I’ve written songs for so long, and so we chose our favorites. We went to the cabin and we recorded them. As of now they’re being finalized. So we have a record; we have material from that. From there, it’s just building shows, and giving people a really, really cool experience live that hopefully blows their expectations.”

During his time on Idol, Metts was able to release his debut single “20,000 Kisses,” which he worked on with producer Ian Fitchuk, who said Metts’ came with a “decent amount” of production already in place. Metts also worked on the upbeat single with Josh Moore and Mark Irwin.

While Metts has not yet signed a record deal, he admitted that he would if the opportunity presented itself, but until then he will be diving in to continuing making music for many years to come even if it’s all released independently.

“If it makes sense for someone to come along, then I’m more than open to that, but I think that’s been a big focus, to try and make this dependent on myself, and the people that I can trust around me,” Metts admitted. “We can still do it regardless of a massive label or not.”

Additionally, Metts is gearing up for the first of two sold-out concerts at the historic Franklin Theater in Franklin, Tennessee. The first concert, taking place on Sunday, August 8, sold out so fast that he had to add a second show on August 15. The concert on Sunday (Aug. 8) will mark Metts’ first time on stage since Idol and his band will consist of the same group who he recorded the tracks with in the Tennessee cabin.

“It’s actually the first time I’ll be back on stage, which is really cool,” Metts revealed to Everything Nash. “It’s with the same guys that I recorded these songs with; they’re all the songs from the cabin. I’m really excited to showcase those for the first time. There will be a few that I’ve done before and then a few from the show. It should be a really special experience. And I really cannot wait to just get in front of fans and people who have supported me the last six months.”
