After years of building a fanbase of millions online, singer-songwriter-instrumentalist-actor, Alex Aiono has finally released his first single “Good Morning” off his debut album The Gospel at 23. During these times when the world is anxious and searching for optimism, “Good Morning” is a shot of espresso that immediately lifts the listener up and challenges them to push through their fears. The song and its conversational lyrics are true to Aiono’s outlook on making the most of everyday, even when times are tough, as tomorrow may not come.
The upbeat single was mixed as it was recorded to result in a freshly unpolished track ensuring Aiono’s voice and story were not diluted in any way. “Good Morning” will soon be followed by the equally disruptive album, The Gospel at 23 dropping next Friday, July 24th. The album provides a raw and real anecdotal look into how Aiono has navigated his journey into young adulthood thus far – everything from love to sex to faith to family. The 8 track EP tells the artist’s coming of age story through a deconstructed trifecta of simple elements: one kick drum, a piano and a Philadelphia gospel choir.
When discussing the influence behind “Good Morning” Aiono says, “I wanted to write something that would launch me into living, even if life doesn’t feel so easy at times. To me, ‘Good Morning’ is a perfect representation of today’s world and how, no matter what happened yesterday or what may happen tomorrow, we have the power to make a real change today. ‘So, get up!’”
Since 2012, Aiono has been perfecting his craft and growing his audience having begun writing and recording at age 15. After nearly a billion views, 500 million streams, Top 10 hits of his own, sold out tours around the world, starring movie roles and crafting songs for other platinum artists, he embraced his unique calling as a multi-hyphenate creator on his twenty third birthday. Determined to stay independent, Aiono has also released songs both with the biggest majors and as an indie. However, the Phoenix-born/Los Angeles-based talent has stepped out of the format-fitting industry to begin a new journey into his own musical eccentricities to create an unpredictable genre hybrid steeped in cathedral-size gospel truth-telling, stark hip-hop swagger, alternative ambition and pop bliss with his debut album The Gospel at 23.
In this next chapter, Aiono will be starring in Netflix’s Finding Ohana, produced by Ian Bryce (Saving Private Ryan & Transformers), as well as expanding on other acting roles. Aiono also launched the debut episode of his first podcast series titled, “Alex Aiono: Let’s Get Into It,” last week with iHeartRadio. On this highly bingeable podcast, Aiono is joined by friends, sexperts, therapists, influencers, actors and comedians to discuss a variety of topics like love, lust, addiction, heartbreak, grief and even their deepest fears. New episodes are available each Tuesday.
