1st Base Runner, aka Tim Husmann, is an Austin based indie artist who just debuted their single “All Thoughts,” after taking a 7 year hiatus. The track is just a taste of the new music that is coming on his full-length album, Seven Years of Silence, due for release in the Spring. Tim’s artistic vision for the track is a bit melancholy and gothic, as seen in the black and white music video for the track. Despite the look, “All Thoughts” is has a gothic pop sound with a danceable beat.
Now we know what you’re thinking, 7 years seems like a long time, but it was very necessary to clear out the past projects that he did from his, so he could create a fresh sound. Each track on Seven Years of Silence was carefully created, blending trip hop, gothic pop, and avant-garde post-rock to create a world of his own.
“It [the album] was something that had to be made,” says Tim. “I had tried to suppress the concepts and ideas explored in the 8 tracks for several years. It is my willingness to be vulnerable and laid bare before others in an attempt to glimpse some fundamental truths about what it means to be here and to be present.
“It is an exploration of expectations and shortcomings and how they in turn will make us all the more uniquely human,” says Tim. No one gets out with clean hands, not on this ride, and not in this lifetime.”
Created in the privacy of his personal studio, Seven Years of Silence is a testament to patience and precise planning, and how time can truly make a difference.
Seven Years of Silence will be available on April 8th on limited edition vinyl LP, as well as on all major streaming platforms. 1st Base Runner will also be releasing a five-track EP, Ellis, later this summer with a more pop-leaning dub sound.
