Deadmau5 Blasts Through ‘Lots of Shows in a Row’

The Canadian progressive/house/electro DJ Joel Zimmerman, AKA Deadmau5, played a packed Merriweather Post Pavilion Saturday night in Columbia, Maryland. The “lots of shows in a row” tour showcased Deadmau5’s new massive Cube 2.1 with LED lighting effects and videos you couldn’t take your eyes from. The sound quality was amazing and the bass was booming, pleasing an energetic crowd. Deadmau5 played the first half of the set with his infamous mouse headpiece and the second half fully human.

The DJ opened with his 2015 hit “Imaginary Friends” as the crowd screamed, many wearing light up mouse ears and glowing accessories. The set featured songs from the new album W:/2016ALBUM/as well as older fan favorites like “Moar Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff”/“Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” and “My Pet Coelacanth”/”Let Go”. The cube showed entertaining graphics and projections from a dancing dead mouse, to transforming machinery, video games, flashing lights, middle fingers, and kitty cats! It’s no secret that there were a couple interruptions at this show where the music stopped abruptly. But that didn’t stop the DJ from keeping the crowd entertained with jokes and a piece of Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana” during technical difficulties.

“With great technology comes great fuck ups.” – Joel Zimmerman

The DJ ended his set with two of his top hits “The Veldt” followed by “Strobe”. Next, Deadmau5 and his giant cube head to Lowell, MA and lots more shows in a row through August. Find out when Deadmau5 is coming to a venue near you HERE.
